The return of The Mac...
After 40 years the Nike Mac Attack OG is officially back.
Known to be one of the most legendary tennis shoes of all time, originally released in 1984 and famously worn by the notorious John McEnroe, who was known to have a hot temper on the Tennis court.
The silhouette was made specifically for him and, playing style. They were never re released, until now.
Back in March 2023, the Mac Attack remerged in its OG form and classic colourway, "Light Smoke Grey".
After the initial re-emergence back in March, Nike shortly released a variety of new colourways which were showed off by NBA star PJ Tucker.
Fast forward to June 2023, Nike released a short video with Travis Scott & John McEnroe which shows the two enjoying a game of tennis in the Mac Attacks.
The campaign sets the tone for a highly anticipated release, Travis Scott standing next to McEnroe, both of which wearing the aforementioned OG Mac Attack.
On the 23rd of June, the Nike Attack was released on the SNKRS app. The shoe did quite well on initial release. As predicted, practically all sizes were sold out barring pre-school.
Nike Attack x Travis Scott Collab
Travis Scott was instrumental in the return of the Nike Attack. Think about it, every Nike silhouette that's been worn by Travis Scott has seen a sudden increase in sales, from the Air Jordan 1 to the Air Force 1, it is always going to be one of the top creps for months.
With months of speculation and anticipation, the Nike Attack will finally get a collaboration with the Houston Native rapper, Travis Scott.
Official images started to surface earlier this summer, with rapper appearing to dawn his own custom version.
This silhouette comes with a slight "Twist" to its original predecessor. Much like the original, the collaboration is dressed almost entirely in a light grey upper, with black mesh inserts along the toe and black leathers.
It's nice to see Nike re-release some of the older retro's outside of the Jordan Brand. This shifts more attention to silhouettes that are currently out of the limelight, and with the official released date being confirmed for the 2nd of December, 2023, this shoe is definitely going to hit different numbers.
