Nike SNKRS Day - One of the biggest days in Sneaker culture!
August 8th is a big one people, because SNKRS day is nearly among us!
One of the biggest day in the sneaker world is nearly here once again. Now that Yeezy day is over, all eyes are on Nike now, as Nike is set to celebrate its 5th anniversary of its in-app store SNKRS.
What is the SNKRS app?
SNKRS initially released during the 2015 NBA all-star event in Brooklyn New York.
The SNKRS App is your ultimate destination for the releases of highly coveted new sneakers. With the SNKRS App, you can get notified when your favourite shoes drop, see behind-the-scene stories, enter SNKRS Drawings, reserve select sneakers with SNKRS Pass, and keep an eye on the calendar to see what’s releasing next.
Nike described SNKRS as “a one-stop sneaker shop that grants mobile access to the most premium Nike sneakers.” It offers the full catalogue of men’s and women’s shoes, including popular franchises like Air Force 1, Air Max, Foamposite and Jordan, as well as Nike SB products, and includes customization and personalization options.
Nevertheless, the SNKRS app gives sneakerheads and enthusiasts the opportunity to cop their favourite coveted sneakers on release day just from their couch, instead of lining up for hours.
Nike typically celebrates SNKRS Day on 8th August, and this year is bigger and better, as Nike will be holding live events all across Europe, which may come as a shock to those in the States. We should be expecting sneakerheads from London, Berlin and Paris to have exclusive access to coveted sneaker silhouettes.
The day may include special events, polls and lives to which people can participate to gain special prizes. So, make sure to log on to the app and take a look at the agenda so you don't miss out!
SNKRS Day releases!
Whilst there are constant rumours and whispers on the potential releases on SNKRs day, there have been two high profile drops confirmed.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low SNKRS Day celebrates five years of the sneaker-copping app from Nike.
Dressed in mixed materials, this is one special iteration that combines all that is great about the 1982 Air Force 1 silhouette.
Arriving in a clean white and brown upper. The upcoming pairs feature white panelled uppers incorporating a variety of different knitting patterns with brown leather Swooshes adorned on laterals.
The “V” Roman numeral is found on the wooden eye stays as well as the chocolate-coloured insoles and additional light wooden accents arrive on the lace tips.
Rounding out the design are classic white midsoles and brown outsoles. A wooden SNKRS hangtag comes attached to the box with “8 8 22” notations and the shoebox comes with similar branding accents.
The Nike Air Max 1 “Tour Yellow” comes in a fresh, phantom, tour yellow, summit white, limestone, and white colourway. Sporting white OG mesh underlays, paired with yellow and grey tumbled leather overlays.
The panels are predominantly in white contrasted by a bold yellow tone marking the mudguards and Swoosh logs.
The look is complete with classic Nike branding details on on the tongue and heels, a visible Air midsole unit in an off-white gradient atop a grey outsole.
SNKRS DAY RUMOURS?
So, other than the confirmed shoes discussed above, its noteworthy to mention that SNKRS is notorious for being very sneaky at times with hidden drops so we got to talk about what the potential drops that have been circulating around the community. One particular rumour was the Travis Scott x Fragment x Nike Air Jordan 1 Low OG.
This shoe was original released in 2021, meaning if this is true this will be a restock. This shoe is high in demand due to it being a Travis Scott collaboration, releasing at retail last year for £150 give or take and now worth £2000 (which is quite normal for a collab of this calibre). The shoe is comprised of a premium leather throughout the shoe with a vintage aesthetic. The colours are a mix of blue, black and sail.
