March 26th a day that I never forget...
As sneaker culture continues to grow, we look for highlighted days such as much anticipated release dates and mediocre black Friday deals, however, there aren't too many days in the year that is actually dedicated to a specific crep.
Which is why Air Max day is so important. In this issue of CrepTalk we talk about Air Max day and its significance in sneaker culture.
Nike Air Max Day ??
Air max day is a yearly holiday by Nike Sportswear to celebrate its iconic Air Max line and the use of its innovative Air max technology that's been used since the late 1970's. It pays homage homage to not only the Air Max line but also the other models such as the Nike Tailwind which was the first shoe to feature the Air bubble, but the first shoe to have a visible air bubble would be Tinker Hatfield's Nike Air Max 1, which then went on to evolve into other Air Max creations such as the Air max 95, and Air Max TN.
Also Air Max Day offers a lot of exciting events that many sneakerheads look forward to such as new designs, collaborations and exclusive events.
When is the Air Max day?
Since its official start in 2014, Air Max day is held on March 26th, the same day as the Nike Air Max 1 released in 1987. Since then exciting drops and events have occurred including a new model such as the Nike 2090 which many came to love.
Why Is Air Max day important?
Air Max day is more than just a day where a pair of trainers is celebrated, but rather its a celebration of the development of technology within trainers and how it has brought together a community of thousands if not millions through the influence of art, music, sports and many other avenues.
Also we cant forget about the limited edition releases over the years since its inception.
Such as the Nike Air max Wotherspoons, which were featured in the Nike ' Vote Forward' campaign, which saw twelve creative designers which were asked to design and create their very own Air Max sneaker, which led to the creation of the Air Max 1/97 in 2018 due to the community votes that gave it the honours.
Air Max day is an important day for sneakerheads and sneaker culture itself as it primarily gives focus on creps that can be versatile and affordable.
I can't wait for the exclusives to come out this year, especially the European exclusive Nike Air Max 1 La Ville Lumiere, which holds a plush mixture of leather and canvas uppers, the colour scheme features a cream/off white upper with iridescent panels on the back of the shoe, with an addition to a navy tongue branding the numbers 3.26.
To top it off it also features a chrome metallic accessory paying homage to the Nike Air Max day.
