Sneaker culture has been graced with many iconic materials over the years, but few have had the staying power of corduroy. From its use in near-forgotten Dunks and Vans, to Sean Wotherspoon's now-famous Air Max 1/97, corduroy has been a staple in the sneaker world for many years. And now, Nike has brought it back to the forefront with the release of their Air Max 1 "Baltic Blue."This latest iteration of the Air Max 1 strays far from the model's traditional construction. Instead, corduroy has been used almost exclusively, from the overlays to the unders.

The result is a visual masterpiece that captures the eye with its cool, titular blue hue. To break up the monochromatic look, Nike has incorporated the cool-toned "Baltic Blue," with accents of "Sesame" and "Gridiron" appearing on the branded elements and the lining/outsole, respectively. Rounding out the look is a "Sail" midsole. As we approach Air Max Month, the excitement is palpable. With the return of the OG "Big Bubble" and a host of other amazing Air Max 1 designs, the Air Max 1 "Baltic Blue" is set to be one of the highlights. Expect to see the Nike Air Max 1 "Baltic Blue" release at select retailers and on Nike.com in the first half of 2023.
