Adidas is paying homage to one of the greatest basketball players of all time with their new Kareem Abdul-Jabbar collection. This collection celebrates the life and legacy of Abdul-Jabbar, who recently passed the torch to LeBron James as the NBA's all-time leading scorer.
The collection features three different designs of the adidas Forum, each representing a different aspect of Abdul-Jabbar's career. The first design, "Alpha", is a premium sneaker that pays tribute to Abdul-Jabbar's 88-2 career and three consecutive NCAA Championships at UCLA. The second design, "Accolades", honors the era in which Abdul-Jabbar dominated the Los Angeles area and won multiple NBA Championships. Finally, the "Legacy" design represents Abdul-Jabbar's commitment to social justice and racial equality.
Each design is limited to 33 pairs, in honor of Abdul-Jabbar's retired number with the Lakers. The "Alpha" design will be available to the first 33 VIP members of the Skyhook Loyalty Club, while the "Accolades" design will be released at select LA-based retailers. The "Legacy" design will be available through an exclusive sweepstakes for adiClub members.
The collection is set to launch on February 28th, alongside the launch of Abdul-Jabbar's Club Skyhook. During the month of February, Crypto.com Arena will display each of the signed silhouettes before eventually being raffled off for charity.
